The Kabale District Kadhi, Sheikh Khabu Lule, has urged security agencies and the international community to stop associating Islam and its followers with terrorism.
Speaking during Eid Al-Adha prayers at Al-Madina Stadium on Friday, Lule—who serves as Kadhi for Kabale, Rukiga, and Rubanda districts—expressed concern over what he described as a persistent and unfair stereotype, particularly in Uganda, that equates Muslims with terrorism.
“There is no verse in the Holy Qur’an that promotes terrorism,” Lule said. “Individuals who commit acts of terror should be held personally responsible, not the entire Muslim faith.”
He emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace, love, and unity, and called on the public to differentiate between the actions of a few individuals and the values of the broader Muslim community.
Meanwhile, Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate condemned the rising cases of domestic violence in the area, noting that some have resulted in deaths. He urged families to resolve disputes amicably and to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation.
