Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, is set to host two high-profile Islamic scholars to Friday, May 23, 2025. The scholars—Sheikh Muhammad Said Noman from Saudi Arabia and Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Shakir from Somalia—will visit the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Headquarters in Old Kampala.
Sheikh Noman, a Pakistani national and one of the resident reciters of the Holy Qur’an at Masjid Nabawi (the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah), is expected to deliver the main Friday Juma sermon at the National Mosque.
He is a student of Sheikh Abdu-Rahman Al-Sudais, the renowned President of the Affairs of the Two Holy Sanctuaries in Makkah and Madinah. His visit to Uganda has been coordinated by the Pakistani community in Uganda.
Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Shakir, Secretary General of Ahal Ssunna Wal Jama’a in the Republic of Somalia, is also among the distinguished guests.
Earlier in the day, from mid-morning until noon, the Mufti will preside over an official farewell function for Ugandan Muslim pilgrims, one of the five pillars of Islam. The event will take place at the UMSC Conference Hall.
