This Company Is Building a Hypercar Inspired By the SLR Stirling Moss

Science and TechnologyAutoThis Company Is Building a Hypercar Inspired By the SLR Stirling Moss

Bold new supercars are always exciting, but ambitious projects should be met with a bit of skepticism, like the Engler Mosslr. It’s a stunning tribute to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss that we hope to see on the road one day. The company plans to build just 75 examples of the Mosslr, the same number of SLR Mercedes’ made 16 years ago.

Engler doesn’t provide too many specifics about the available powertrains. The base V-8 makes 740 horsepower, while the V8 Performance trim makes 986 hp. Surprisingly, the V-12-powered Collector’s Edition makes 838 hp, less than the performance V-8, which is also the fastest version.

The entry-level V-8 can reach 200 miles per hour, while the performance trim can reach more than 217 miles per hour, just like the original SLR Stirling Moss. The V-12’s top speed is more than 200 mph, and that’s all we know about the car’s performance capabilities. The original SLR, for reference, packed a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine making 650 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque.

Inside, Engler has leather upholstery and a Time Machine sound system. The company has been around since 2019 when it unveiled the F.F, which would later become the Desat. Last year, it introduced the Concept Engler V12, and in early 2025, it revealed the Engler CoupeTail.

“The development phase is nearly complete,” CEO Viktor Engler tells us via email. “We’ve finalized both the CFD aerodynamic analysis and A-Class surfacing, and the most time-intensive stage, research and development, is now behind us. We’re ready to begin building the very first car, which will serve as our promo and test vehicle. We estimate the first Mosslr will be ready in 6–9 months, with regular production to follow at 2–3 units per month.”

Engler is currently accepting deposits for its Mosslr hypercar, asking a refundable €20,000—or 2.5 percent of the vehicle’s final price. Engler says the first few cars will be offered at a price of €710,000, with the larger production run of vehicles starting at €790,000.

It’s certainly an interesting proposition. But, the Mosslr prototype is still far from reality. Here’s hoping that one day we actually see it on the road.
